Thank you! Michael and I both got so much out of your mini workshop and between us both are so excited to implement your wise and amazing advice. The fact that we are in a stage of our business where cash flow in a major issue; it was a relief to hear that it does not take a ton of money to make a difference. The workshop was very informative and entertaining. As a semi recent college grad I was anticipating a lecture with definitions, terms, and fairly dry rhetoric. But that was not the case whatsoever. As a member of the media, I appreciate a respected marketing professional passing on the wisdom of repeat, repeat, repeat among other marketing tips. People don't believe media people when we try to sell them advertising as a way to promote their business.
They think we're just out to make money. Businesses need to realize that this is a team effort, we can't publish / broadcast without advertisers, but quite honestly, businesses can't thrive without promoting themselves. I truly enjoyed the workshop yesterday and was very glad that it was worth my time and commitment.
I can't tell you how many workshops I have attended that made me sorry I spent my valuable time.
I also appreciated that we were not bombarded with intense pressure to buy or listen to a sales pitch.
I was surprised at how many prominent business owners attended and it made me realize that we are all dealing with similar issues no matter the size or type of business. I guess the old adage "misery loves company" applies a bit!
The material was very easy to comprehend and you made me feel like I could do as well as anyone else just by using these simple yet effective guidelines.
I liked the interactive activities and also the visual and audio reminders to be human. The advice to look at advertising just like the people you serve was spot on. It was also nice that while you interacted with the audience, you never made them feel bad or stupid for their past advertising blunders! Education is always the key I think!
Just to give you a little background, I work at the Santa Rosa Fire Department doing marketing and outreach for our public education programs. I am also on the City of Santa Rosa's Marketing Committee.
A few other committee members attended who represent other departments and we were all excited about what we were able to take from your workshop yesterday and plan on bringing the information back to our other committee members. As you can probably imagine, city budgets are hurting. We are now looking at combining our efforts in order to reach our citizens with our respective messages more efficiently and without losing ground. The City of Santa Rosa recently changed its logo and we are currently working on our branding so this information is timely.

I was fortunate to attend a workshop on Advertising in Tough Economic Times conducted by Michael Tate.
